Heads-up wayfinding

Hold the phone up. The camera shows what is left of the world and the overlay paints what is not visible any more: the rally point, HLZ, ICP or nearest safe refuge from the incident map as a floating marker with distance, climb and walking ETA, a ground chevron path toward it, and when the target is outside the lens a TURN LEFT / RIGHT chevron at the edge with the exact degrees. A guidance tone speeds up and the phone pulses as you come onto bearing, so it works with the screen in a pocket. When visibility is nil, switch to synthetic vision — the same cues on a black horizon. Navigation aid only: a magnetometer near steel or a cracked slab lies; check the map and your team.

Target

Sensors idle.

Drill (no sensors needed)

Simulates a rally point 180 m north-east and 12 m above you, with the phone slowly sweeping — watch the edge chevron hand off to the floating marker and the tone speed up.

Pick a target and start the HUD.

Heading from the magnetometer (iOS compass heading, else 360 − α absolute), camera pitch from β − 90°; distance and forward azimuth by haversine; look-angle = atan(ΔE ÷ D) − pitch; marker x = ½ + Δψ ÷ HFOV, y = ½ − Δθ ÷ VFOV; off-screen when |Δψ| > HFOV ÷ 2 → edge chevron with |Δψ|°; ground chevrons at 4·2ⁿ m projected from a 1.6 m eye height; ETA by Tobler's hiking function. Positions come from the phone's GPS (+ barometer altitude when the browser exposes it). Not a substitute for a map, a compass check or your team leader.
